Jim motoring along nicely
Denis Hogan continues to ply a successful trade as both a trainer and jockey and steered another winner from his Co Tipperary yard on Drive On Jim winner of the Racing UK Handicap Chase at Punchestown today.
Hogan squeezed the son of Alderbrook to the front along the inside rail after two out and helped the gelding to stay on well for an easy win over Miss Pepperpot
Afterwards Hogan, who was riding his ninth and training his seventh winner of the season, said “that was a surprise - he disappointed over Christmas, probably the trip (2m4f) wasn’t ideal.
“The blinkers he had on today were actually a mistake as I meant to put cheek-pieces on when I was declaring him - it’s a pity he isn’t entered in the Thyestes but we’ll find another nice staying chase for him soon.”
