Lord Kenmare gave trainer Michael Halford a mid-card double when landing the fifth race at Dundalk under Shane Foley.

The American-bred seven-year-old had won over course and distance three times and duly made it four in this mile contest. Foley had him fourth a furlong out, but brought him through in the final half furlong to win cosily by three parts of a length at odds of 6/1.

Michael Halford said: “He loves it here! He’s never won anywhere else other than the all-weather. He has come back down to a mark that he can be effective off. They can’t go fast enough for him as he loves coming from behind.” Valley Queen 5/1jf, was the horse headed by Lord Kenmare inside the furlong pole. Halford was successful in the fourth race with Zarib This was Lord Kenmare’s fifth win at Dundalk. He was racing off a mark of 56 having been dropped 6lbs.
