Isaac Bell snapped a frustrating run of second places when he routed his rivals in Cork’s two mile bumper.

Declan Ryan’s six-year-old gelding wasn’t winning out of turn as he clocked up three bumper runner-up spots in-a-row in May and June.

He did though come into this race with arguably the strongest form on offer and that was reflected in him being returned the 9/4 favourite.

Johnny Barry had him disputing the lead throughout with Doyen Dynamo With half a mile to race Isaac Bell moved ahead and before the three pole opened up a clear lead. He cantered away in the last two furlongs to win by 11 lengths. Edith Somerville on debut for Sabrina Harty and Nina Carberry came through for second at 12/1 while Red Jacket at 11/2 finished third as he did on his first outing at Tipperary.

Handler Declan Ryan said: “That’s my first winner on the track though I had a point-to-point winner last March. This horse was my first runner on St Stephen’s Day. He’s owned by my mother Noreen.

“It was some day and a good way to win it. He knows how to jump and will go for a maiden hurdle, but first he’ll have a break as he’s been on the go since December.”

Declan Ryan took over his father Stanley’s training licence.
