It’s been quite the few days on the ownership front for the singing group, the Irish Tenors, and one of its members, Ronan Tynan, will be hoping for more at Dundalk today with his Ruler Of The World filly Pineapple Express
Kilkenny native Doctor Tynan also bred the chestnut, and she deservedly shed her maiden tag in style at Gowran on Wednesday evening for the Slatterys.
Father and son team, Andy and Andrew, have Pineapple Express back in action quickly this afternoon in the first split of the Follow Us On Social Media Handicap. Despite her ten stone three burden the four-year-old could be worth following.
Her rating on the turf is now up to 70 and she competes here off her all-weather mark of 65. Her owner/breeder lost the dam, Razzleberry, only last week.
Yesterday at Wexford Tynan’s friend and fellow Irish tenor Anthony Kearns struck with his hugely likeable Gold Well mare, Mt Leinster Gold, in a rated novice hurdle.
Prolific in point-to-points Mt Leinster Gold is trained for Kearns by his fellow Kiltealy native and long time ally Colin Bowe. ‘Bon’ O’Neill’s mount gave weight and a beating to mainly geldings in Friday’s Bettyville opener.
Fittingly enough Mt Leinster Gold was bred by Ronan Tynan and she should make a nice broodmare when her racing days are done.
Her half-sister Lily Of Killarney won a couple of races for the Irish Tenors Return Syndicate back in 2013 and 2014.
A gelding out of the dam meanwhile, Balbriggan, won the Troytown Chase in 2014 and Grade One winner Sam Spinner is close up in the pedigree.
The eight race card at Dundalk begins at 1.10 and Pineapple Express takes up her assignment at 3.25.
