Indigo Five the horse at the centre of last weekend's 'mistaken identity' controversy, proved that the form shown when 'winning' in the guise of stablemate Ano Manna at Killarney was a good guide to her well-being as she landed the Derek O'Sullivan RACE 50th Anniversary Apprentice Handicap.

Hugh Horgan 's mount raced towards the near side of the field from her high draw and moved up to dispute the lead three furlongs out. Soon in front, the four-year-old was pressed by Mogwli inside the final furlong but saw off that one's challenge by half a length with the pair well clear of the remainder.

Johnny Feane, who trains the daughter of Fast Company for Ray McSharry, said: “It was a bit of a disaster last week. I didn’t arrive till after the race at Killarney and when I got down to the stableyard I spotted the difference straightaway.

“I’m delighted she won today for Ray. It’s a nice boost for everyone at the end of a bad week.

“She won well so we’ll see what the handicapper does. She’s in the sales but she might run again or they could hang onto her.

“She’s keeps improving and did it the hard way there, drawn 18 and wide all the way. She just kept galloping and if the ground was softer she’d be better again. The cheekpieces helped her as well.”
