Hussey keeps it simple on Bogini
First time blinkers and a near ideal rails draw in two helped Bogini (at least 100/30 this morning into 9/4) shed her maiden tag at the fifth time of asking in the opening House Of Fraser European Breeders Fund Maiden at Down Royal.
Michael Hussey aboard Bogini took advantage of his draw and he soon had the Holly Roman Emperor filly showing in front. She was always going to win through the final furlong though Jpevie flew home to dead-heat for second with Red Avis but the pair were three parts of a length adrift of Bogini at the line. Arthur Moore's Oh So Quaint didn't enjoy much luck in running and she finished sixth.
Tracey Collins trains the successful juvenile for Michael O'Callaghan (had wins with Darasal Wane and Belleau this term too), and she said: "I'm very pleased. She was entitled to win a race. I put the blinkers on her to make her concentrate.
"When I saw the draw we decided to make use of it and make the running. Michael gave her a top class ride. He gave her a breather at the right time.
"The owner, Michael O'Callaghan is from Kerry. He's a young man investing in racing, which is good to see. He has horses with myself and Paul Deegan."
