Strong 13/8 favourite Boitron delivered in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Claiming Race at Dundalk for Denis Hogan and Paddy Harnett.
The Premier Racing Club’s four-year-old was backed in from 9/4 and he triumphed on his fourth start for current connections.
Rated 88 now, the Le Havre gelding was fourth in the Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, when with Richard Hannon in 2018.
Here he raced in the rear of mid-division, before making headway entering the straight.
Going fifth two furlongs out, Boitron was ridden to lead a furlong out, staying on well in the final furlong to beat Royal Highness by a length and a quarter.
Hogan also had the third and fifth across the line, Caesar’s Comet and Drummond Warrior
“He had very good form as a young horse and was a lovely pick up by Denis,” said Harnett.
“He travelled super the whole way and won easy in the end. It was very straight-forward and he has plenty of ability.
“I rode him over a mile on his first run here in Ireland and I don't think he got home. I think the seven definitely suited him a lot better today.”
Boitron was claimed by Ger O'Leary and Caesar's Comet by James McAuley.
M.A. Gallagher, rider of No Speed Limit (FR) trained by James McAuley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount reared up in the stalls and missed the break.
