Jockey Conor Hoban rode out his claim at Dundalk this evening, steering the Michael Halford trained and Aga Khan owned 4/5 favourite Arif to win the Elusive Pimpernel Maiden.
The son of Nayef was made work hard for his win and in the end battled well to hold the challenge of Song Of Love by a neck.
Afterwards Hoban stated "it's great to ride out my claim and especially to ride it out on one for the boss (Michael Halford). He's been a very good supporter of mine and I'm delighted; the hard work starts now!"
Trainer Michael Halford added "I'm delighted for Conor and with Shane (Foley, stable jockey) in Dubai it's great to give Conor opportunities. He's a good lad and a great worker in the yard.
"This horse is still a bit babyish. He travelled good and there's plenty of scope for improvement. He likes the surface and has a good attitude and Conor said it rode a good race, and there is plenty more to come.
"The maidens are still very competitive here and a good standard."
