Spancil Hill flew home on the run-in to grab the spoils in the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle at Punchestown this afternoon.

Michael McDonagh 's charge had stayed on well to finish third over three miles at Thurles on his last outing and stormed home again despite a half mile drop in trip.

The eight-year-old raced mid-division under Liam Quinlan and was driven along in sixth turning for home.

The 11/4 shot found another gear from the last, however, and got on top in the closing stages to record a three-length victory over Glenabo Bridge

It was an eighth career success for promising amateur Liam Quinlan, a brother of fellow jockeys Roger and Sean.
