Thu 29th Dec 2011, 14:10

With the defection of Driveheron, just ten went to post for the Limerickraces.ie Handicap Hurdle with the Seamus Fahey trained Hidden Crack landing the spoils under Eddie O'Connell.

The 7yo son of Lahib was recording his fourth career success today after winning two handicap hurdles in quick succession in February of 2010 at Clonmel and a handicap chase at Downpatrick in February of this year.

Having run eight times since his last win he was sent off at 12/1 this afternoon and after being prominent throughout he hit the front as they approached the straight.

He was pressed at the second last and the last but pulled out more on the run-in to score by two and a quarter lengths from 7/1 shot Passing Through back in second. Owennacurra Milan finished a further three and three parts of a length back in third at 4/1 while the 6/4 favourite Satwa King disappointed back in sixth.

The winner is out of Wicked Crack, who won six and was Grade 2 placed, and is a half-brother to the classy Cue Card.

Winning trainer Seamus Fahey said afterwards: "He will go for a 2m 4f handicap chase at Cork now in a fortnight's time and he loves that loose heavy ground.

"He never seems to win until it past Christmas!"
