The 2m5f maiden hurdle was won by Maciver (12/1, from 18s on course) in the hands of Phillip Enright.

The Shirocco gelding tracked the leaders before making his move on the run to the second-last. Soon in front, he wasn't hard pressed to account for Frontier General by three and a half lengths with 100/1 chance One More Lass a further three lengths away in third.

Winning trainer Eoghan O'Grady said: "He had cheekpieces and a tongue-strap on for the first time today. They got a bit of rain and they watered it and he seemed to like the ground.

"He ran well in a 4-year-old maiden at Boulta point-to-point and things just suited him today.

"We had the dam (Maryiver) as well and she won twice here. Phillip won a beginners chase on her here.

"His half-sister is in at the Derby Sale so Ivor (Dulohery) will be delighted."
