Royal Ascot could be on the cards for Hasanour after the well-backed 13/2 chance appreciated the better ground to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Habitat' Handicap at the Curragh.

The Michael Halford-trained gelding got stuck in the mud here last time in the Lincoln but found conditions far more to his liking as Shane Foley challenged down the centre of the track.

The five-year-old, a course and distance winner last year and also third in the Cambridgeshire, led inside the final furlong for a cosy length success. Beau Satchel just edged out Tennessee Wildcat for the runner-up spot in this mile event, with Mandamusin fourth.

Halford said, “Those are his ideal conditions. Good ground and a mile up there.

“He got stuck in the ground here in the Lincoln. Fair play to Richard (McNally, owner) he's been very patient and we decided to wait for Guineas weekend and a good pot.

“He's a grand straight-forward horse. He's in the Hunt Cup and if he got in we'd never say no to a day out.”
