There was a dramatic conclusion to the irishinjuredjockeys.com Fillies Maiden, with Red Riding Hood swerving right inside the final furlong, badly hampering newcomer Shamwari

The once-raced Letiza (22/1) avoided the drama on the inner and came through to snatch second, with the luckless Shamwari (7/2) ultimately having to settle for third.

After a stewards enquiry, the result remained unaltered, with the winner, who was returned the 2/7 favourite, completing a double for Aidan O'Brien, Ryan Moore and her team of owners.

Second on her first two starts, Red Riding Hood made all this evening, despite her wayward actions in the closing stages.

Interestingly, she also hung right on debut, while her dam Ballydoyle wandered around more than once during her 10-race career.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: "She's still a work-in-progress, she's just got to put everything together.

"She definitely appreciates the better ground. The last day in Naas was maybe a bit slow for her.

"She will definitely come on a lot for the run, the experience will do her the world of good.

"She could go back to Naas for something like the Naas Oaks Trial in three weeks time, to try and get black-type.

"Once she puts everything together, she will be a nice filly going forward.

"She's a typical Justify - a filly with plenty of size and scope and a good mover. A fine, big, galloping filly and probably just got a bit lonely out in front. When the other horse came to her, she kept finding. She is green when she hits the front.

"They (Justify three-year-olds) are fine individuals with plenty of size and scope and very good minds."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Red Riding Hood, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed first, and Shamwari (USA), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed third, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R. L. Moore stated that his mount was green throughout and was pulling up in front when she dived right for the gate. D. P. McDonagh stated that he suffered interference and felt it may have cost him second. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Red Riding Hood had caused interference to Shamwari she did not improve her finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that R. L. Moore had taken all reasonable steps to prevent the interference from occurring and they therefore took no further action. Mr. P. N. Reynolds recused himself from this enquiry. Mr. N. Chance attended this enquiry in an observatory capacity.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Shamwari (USA), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump.
