Gyldan went into plenty of notebooks after a taking victory on debut in the five-furlong maiden at Tipperary for in-form Joseph Murphy.

She broke from stall 17 and raced towards the rear of the field, She was pushed along by Gary Carroll racing to the final quarter of a mile and was ridden to make good headway by the furlong pole.

The Make Believe four-year-old stormed into the lead in the final 150 yards and won going away by two lengths.

The winner was backed from 20/1 to 12/1 and beat Jon Riggens (17/2) into second. Swift Flight was another length and three parts away in third at 4/1.

Joseph Murphy jnr said: "She is a very well-bred filly but has been a triumph for perseverance. She has always shown us plenty but has had problems, nothing of any major significance, and hasn't hit the track until now as a four-year-old.

"We didn't expect her to win first-time out and black-type will be the aim with her at some point. I'd say six (furlongs) is her ideal trip but she is a typical sprinter and has plenty enthusiasm for the game.

"It is a big step up to win first-time-out and step into a pattern race so we'll find a winners' race or handicap for her next. The long-term aim will be for black-type.

"We have two horses for Ballylinch and both have won so they'll have to send on more!"

This was Joseph Murphy's fifth winner since mid-May.
