Kevin Manning produced Busy Bush with a strong run inside the final furlong to claim the spoils in the 45-65 handicap at Listowel. Lightening Stricks kicked for home a furlong-and-a-half from home in the mile contest but couldn't hold the late charge of Jim Gorman's filly.

The daughter of Bushranger got on top inside the final 100 yards for a length success.

Busy Bush had chased home the in-form Elusive In Paris last time at Killarney.

It was a first winner of the year for Gorman. Manning said afterwards:-

"Jim fancied her very much and she had some very good runs without ever winning.

"She picked up well and did it well today."
