Gold Maze availed of a drop in class to readily take the Big Picture Communications Maiden in the Curragh.
The Golden Horn colt had finished sixth in the Irish Derby and ninth in the Epsom Derby in his last couple of appearances.
Shane Foley kept it simple on the 6/5 favourite by making all over the mile and two trip.
The pair had their rivals struggling over a quarter of a mile from home and kept up the gallop to coast in by four and a quarter lengths.
Daylight Come took second at 13/2 by a length and a quarter from 7/2 chance Gauntlet
Jessica Harrington said: “It’s nice that he’s won his maiden. I’m not sure where he’ll go. He’s in various races and we’ll see.
“He loved that doing his own thing and the ground is right for him. He’ll only get better next year as a four-year-old.
“I think he can go any distance from a mile and a quarter up to a mile and six (furlongs). He’s going in the right direction.”
This was Gold Maze's breakthrough victory on his sixth start.
