After finishing a close sixth in the Beverley D Stakes at Arlington just last Saturday, Up recorded just her second career win as she ran out a comfortable winner of the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes.

The 3yo daughter of Galileo has been performing with credit at the highest level this season but had only got her head in front once before today and that was when she won her maiden at Dundalk in September of last year.

The globetrotting filly was sent off at 3/1 today under Joseph O'Brien for his father Aidan.

She was waited with towards the rear and was a moderate sixth entering the straight.

She made headway on the outer to challenge in third from over a furlong out and stayed on strongly to go clear in the closing stages and with by three and three parts of a length.

20/1 outsider Aloof finished second under Wayne Lordan for David Wachman while Ballybacka Lady was three parts of a length back in third at 7/2 under Fran Berry for Jessica Harrington.

Maniree was sent off the 11/4 favourite for John Oxx and Niall McCullagh but she could only manage fifth on her first in nearly a year.

Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien said afterwards: "She was in the US last week and got back on Monday.

"She is a hardy filly and got the trip well today. She has always promised to be nice but things just didn't work out for her. She'll run again in another fillies group race maybe the Matron Stakes."
