Glenquest's jumping lands the spoils

Jumping is the name of the game and as well as De Dodger was travelling before two out, a better jump from under pressure leader Glenquest proved to be the difference in the two mile six handicap chase at Punchestown.
Glenquest’s front-running effort in the Troytown two weeks ago yielded a third place finish there, but his work today from the head of affairs saw him pick up a nice pot of over 15,000 euro.
After jumping the second last, Paul Townend was able to drive Terence O'Brien's charge clear to win by two and three parts of a length and justify 5/2 favouritism.
Townend said: “When the other one came to me it helped him battle. His jumping is a big plus.”
De Dodger (11/2) had to settle for second with Niall Madden in the plate. Seven runners went to post. There was a further 11 lengths back to In Great Form at 4/1.
