The Irish EBF Supporting TREO EILE Mares Maiden Hurdle was a slowly-run affair and in the sprint to the line it was Glan (9/4) who narrowly came out on top under Mark Walsh.

The Gordon Elliott-trained dual bumper winner had finished third to The Names Jock on hurdling debut at Listowel last month.

Here, having tracked the leaders, she gained the advantage at the second-last and just managed to repel the persistent challenge of Jeremys Jewel by a head.

The daughter of Getaway is owned by J P McManus whose racing manager Frank Berry commented: “She hurdled great today and just lasted home. She’s a nice little filly and likes the good ground.

“I’m not sure where she’ll go now - maybe we’ll find a winners-of-one for her. She’s game and hopefully she’ll improve.

“I’d say she’ll go on softish ground and will be fine as long as it doesn’t get heavy.”
