Odds-on Disko didn't seem to do too much wrong from the front in the Corrib Oil Maiden Hurdle at Galway, but he was upstaged by Archive (7/1), another owned by Gigginstown House Stud, in the opener at Ballybrit.
The Eoin Griffin-trained and David Mullins-ridden Archive chased Disko throughout, and they had it to themselves from some way out.
In what was a most pleasing performance from the victorious Sulamani gelding, he quickened past Disko on the run-in for a half length win.
They left second favourite Jetstream Jack all of twenty nine lengths back in third.
"To be honest I wasn't expecting to beat the other one (Gigginstown's Disko) or Gordon's (Elliott's Jetstream Jack) but I thought his experience might help him," acknowledged Griffin.
"I was disappointed with him at Punchestown (4th in mid-May) but looking back on it, the race has worked out very well.
"He loves that ground and I don't know if he'll go on winter heavy and might be the type to do better in the spring. I'll talk to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary, winning connections) and we'll see where we go next but I imagine he'll be tried in soft ground at some stage."
