Tellthemnuttin landed a major gamble at Downpatrick when staying on strongly to land the extended two mile five handicap hurdle.
The five-year-old mare travelled well for Dylan Robinson and delivered her challenge after the last. She readily picked up the lead and passed the post four and a half lengths to the good. Overtures (10/1) kept on nicely for second without threatening the winner while 4/1 joint favourite Theo came home third after being headed after the last. He was beaten seven lengths by the winner.
She was backed from prices as big as 40/1 during the day before being sent off at 14/1.
Trainer Willie Codd said: "Her pedigree is nice and obviously we were running her on winter ground and she wasn't handling it. This was the first time she got good ground. We put a 7lb claimer on her to give her every chance and she jumped great and travelled. Dylan gave her an absolute peach of a ride, I'm so impressed with the chap. He did everything to instruction. His agent recommended him. That's the first time he has ridden for me.
"I'm delighted for that syndicate (Heads Or Harps Syndicate) as they've had horses with me before and this is their first winner with me.
"She did a bit of work in the Curragh last week but I only have two horses in training. She was in good form and she stayed galloping. She's tough. I trained her mother (Peggy Maddock) to win a point-to-point. It's a good tough family. We'll keep going for the summer with her. She could come back here."
Paul Townend will go for a precautionary X-ray on his way home in relation to a sore ankle sustained after being brought down on Gold Class It was an ankle he had broken before but it wasn't thought to be broken this evening.
