The Eddie Lynam trained Boston Rocker landed a gamble as she took the opening race, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden, at Fairyhouse this evening under Shane Foley.
Having opened at 16/1 this morning with Paddy Powers, she opened on track at just 9's and the support continue for her and she was eventually returned at just 5/1.
The daughter of Acclamation made all the running and kept on well when ridden from over a furlong out to score by half a length at the line.
The Ger Lyons trained newcomer Lightnin Hopkins (one of three newcomers from that yard) finished second at 14/1 under Gary Carroll while his stable mate Washboard Sam was a further length and a half back in third under Gary Phillips at 20/1.
The winner was having just her second start this evening after finishing sixth of eight on her debut at Navan last month behind Cristoforo Colombo.
The Andrew Oliver trained Tiger Stripes was very well supported this morning going from 7/1 (in a place) into his opening show on course of 9/4. He was returned the 9/4 favourite but could only manage fifth under Chris Hayes.
Winning trainer Eddie Lynam said afterwards: "She ran a bit green last time out but that run helped her. Shane gave her a great ride and it’s good to get a winner for Lady O’Reilly and the wife (Aileen Lynam)!
"I’ll aim to get blacktype for her as she is beautifully bred."
The winner was purchased by her trainer for €35,000 at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sales in September of last year.
