Classic and Royal Ascot winning trainer Jessica Harrington completed a double at Gowran today as her Charcor caused a bigger surprise than earlier debutante scorer Dragon Roll to win the concluding www.gowranpark.ie Median Auction Race.

Winning jockey Shane Foley and Harrington both claimed Irish Classic success this year with, respectively, Romanised in the 2,000 Guineas and Alpha Centauri in the 1,000 Guineas and today the pair combined with 16/1 winner Charcor, which beat off more experienced campaigners for a length win from Mazzuri

Harrington earlier admitted to “not really expecting Dragon Roll to win” the opener and following Charcor's success Harrington said “he's a horse that got injured as a yearling. He came to me and had one run early on when he finished third and was very slowly away and very green.

“I've just been waiting and waiting for ground for him because he needs a bit of juice in it and all the time he's had has stood to him.

“He was to go to Galway for a maiden but he's broken it here and he's a nice horse going forward and we'll see what mark he gets now.”
