Chris Hayes, earlier successful aboard Master Speaker (8/1) in the third, completed a double in race five on the card at Killarney when guiding Franklyn to victory at odds of 11/1 in the 1m 3f handicap for three-year-olds. Aidan Howard’s handicap debutant kept on strongly to defeat the 3/1 favourite Ellaat by two and a quarter lengths, with Full Moon Magic (9/1) a further length and a quarter back in third. It resulted in a 107/1 double for the County Limerick-born rider.

Winning trainer Aidan Howard was pleased with the winner, a gelded son of Archipenko.“I was hopeful coming here today. He was green and raw, and when Chris got stuck into him he stayed on well. He’s still a baby, and the maidens have done him the world of good.

“He’s entered again on Monday and on Thursday so we’ll see how he comes out of this.”
