Aasleagh Dawn stayed on stoutly up the hill in Downpatrick to give Ger Fox and Gavin Cromwell a double on the card.

The five-year-old mare hit the front close home to score by half a length at 11/4 from Inishbel (7/1) in the mares' maiden hurdle. Isle Of Destiny the 8/15 favourite, was a further three parts of a length adrift in third.

Ger Fox said: "We came here to do a job and the two of them did it. I couldn't be more happier now.

"It's a long way home and I learnt from the last day I rode her that she wouldn't be that quick but stays well. Her best feature is galloping near the end. I could catch him if she found a bit and in fairness she's a hardy sort. She lifted herself up there.

"She'll go a bit further, she even missed the last completely. In fairness when I got stuck into her she dug deep."
