The Dot Love-trained Flindt ran out the winner of an eventful ten furlong handicap at Sligo.

The Most Improved gelding powered to the front turning for home and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters success over Sunnyhill Lad

There was drama passing the two pole as Chris Hayes' mount Roses Queen slipped up and she hampered Wichita Line who unshipped Gary Carroll.

Thankfully both jockeys got back to their feet and escaped without injury, albeit sore after the incident.

Flindt didn't go unbacked as he had been 9/1 this morning and returned a 9/2 shot. He had finished sixth on his two outings this year, most recently at Cork four days ago.

Ciaran Murphy (assistant to Dot Love) said:- “I’m thrilled with him. He was unlucky in Cork where he got knocked coming out of the stalls and Conor had to bide his time and it didn’t work out.

“He’s progressive but is a big baby still and a mile and four will suit real well. We are hoping he will build on that and he will go juvenile hurdling in August. He’s a lovely jumper and very much a dual purpose horse.

“I bought him off Eddie O’Leary, and he said to me at the time that lad will do you a good twist. We took our time with him and it has paid dividends now.”
