Fiscal Rules broke his maiden tag in somewhat workmanlike fashion at Cork.
He was the class act of the race with a rating of 106 built upon fifth places in the Irish 2000 Guineas and the Irish Derby.
Unsurprisingly, he went off 5/6 favourite for this assignment as he dropped back to seven furlongs.
The Make Believe colt was was pushed along to lead over a furlong out and was ridden when pressed by Roundel in the final furlong.
To his credit he was in charge in the closing stages as he put a length and a quarter on Mudawy (11/1) who took second by half a length from market springer Roundel (12/1 from 28/1).
Una Manning, representing trainer Jim Bolger, said: "He is a lovely horse and will run in what races are available to him in Ireland for the rest of this year.
"He didn't have a hard race there and hopefully he'll be back in the big time next year."
Jockey Kevin Manning said: "He's doing nothing in front. It's one of those typical maidens where you are nearly travelling too well at halfway. I was just doing very little the last furlong.
"I'd say the better the race the better the horse. He doesn't lack pace.
"Whatever he does this year is really a bonus, he's going to come into his own next year physically and fill out the frame that he has."
