The complexion of Limerick’s closing beginners chase changed after one fence as highly-touted odds on favourite Teelin Star (4/6) got in too tight and unseated Barry Geraghty.
That’s not to take anything away from Sraid Padraig (16/1) who was coaxed into the race by Robbie Power and jumped the second last better than He’s A Delight (2/1) and Kildare Blowin (25/1) who finished second and third respectively.
Despite fiddling the last Sraid Padraig bounded home well clear by seven and a half lengths to give trainer Tony Martin a double on the day after Mulleady #8217;s win in the opener.
Martin said: “He disappointed in his bumper. He was plenty fit enough [today], but he’s a real chaser.
“He’s a great model of a horse. He has scope, size and strength. He’s a cracking horse and that was ideal for his second run on the track.”
