Fiery's fifth is Lyons' 50th

Fri 7th Nov 2008, 20:13

Trainer Ger Lyons' recorded his 50th win of a terrific season at Dundalk tonight where his Fiery Lad was the second leg of a double for the Co Meath trainer and Champion Apprentice-elect Emmett McNamara, in the featured Listed Carlingford Stakes.

Previously successful four times over the course and distance, Fiery Lad chased the leaders before progressing to lead under two furlongs out, staying on well for a length and a quarter success over Varsity

Lyons himself was absent but his brother Shane Lyons reported "Fiery Lad is the apple in everyone's eye in the yard and his owner has turned down several offers for him which we are delighted about!"

He added "Fiery Lad just does enough in front and next year its onwards and upwards with him hopefully!"
