The fourth horse on the card to make all, Basil Martini (12/1) got off the mark on her fifth start in the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes.

Nailed on the line in a Punchestown maiden earlier this month, the daughter of Starspangledbanner was game when pressed in the final furlong and pulled out a bit more for Declan McDonogh to see off Gan Teorainn and Keep In Touch by half a length and a neck.

Easy to back 2/1 favourite Caroline Street a stable companion of the winner, met some trouble in running after getting outpaced 2f out and finished sixth.

Winning trainer Joseph O’Brien said: “Declan said she really felt good today. She generally is quick away and leads. It was a really tough performance. She’s a progressive filly and has held her form very well all the way through.

“For the last furlong and a half you were wondering what was going to come and get her but she just kept finding.

“I’d say that is probably it for this season. She is a Group winner now and is a nice filly to look forward to next spring.”

Paddy Power introduced the winner at 33/1 for next year's 1000 Guineas.
