The mares’ maiden hurdle saw Outback Flyer (7/2) land the spoils in the hands of Kevin Sexton.
The homebred daughter of Jet Away, owned by Wexford man Jonathan Deacon, tracked the leaders before heading Sainte Dona on the run to the second-last. She stayed on well to defeat that rival by four and three quarter lengths. Comedaygoday third at Naas yesterday, filled the same spot here a further ten lengths away.
The winner had previously been fourth over two miles here in a race won by subsequent Grade 3 winner Kilbarry Chloe.
Winning trainer Peter Fahey said: “She’s a filly we thought a lot of on her homework and we aimed her quite high. It probably knocked her confidence a bit.
“I know it wasn’t the strongest of races but that should give her some confidence.
“I’m delighted for the owners Johnny and Janice (Deacon) who are local and it’s the first horse they have had with me.
“She’ll stay tipping away. She struggled during the winter and may find easier targets over the summer. She’s big enough to jump a fence as well.”
