After her success at Clonmel last evening with Feel Des Mottes, Liz Doyle kept up the good work in the Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Beginners Chase as Burlesque Queen added to her three hurdling successes.
James O’Sullivan did the steering on the Gold Well mare, third over the course and distance three weeks back.
We lost favourite Bold Emperor as early as the second fence, when he got rid of Darragh O’Keeffe, and up front Burlesque Queen (7/2) got the better of The Great White by half a length. Famous Escape (80/1, rider dropped whip inside the final furlong) ended up three parts of a length back in third.
“She jumped brilliant. The bit of experience here from the last day probably helped an awful lot,” said O’Sullivan.
“Throughout the race I thought the ground was plenty quick enough for her. I was squeezing her from the fourth last and her jumping kept her in it.
“I probably got there soon enough but she was game and rallied from the last. She was good and long at the last and answered every question for me.”
