Trainer Nigel Slevin recorded his first track winner as his Third Estate ran out a surprise 40/1 victor of the Jackson Court Hotel INH 4yo Flat Race.

Slevin, who rode two winners for his sister Frances in 2013, trains in Enfield, Co Meath.

Fifth of five on his debut at Naas in January, the winning son of Suleiman was settled in mid-division by Luke McGuinness.

He was poised behind the leaders in sixth with three furlongs to race and came with his challenge between rivals from the two furlong pole.

He hit the front inside the final furlong before and kept on well to score by three parts of a length.

Jamie Sommers (40/1) and Innocent Verdict (14/1), who vied for the lead throughout, finished second and third with a length and three parts separating them two at the line. Cadeau Du Bresil was sent off the 5/6 favourite and he finish fifth under Nina Carberry for Gordon Elliott. He was hampered with two furlongs to race.

Nigel Slevin, who trains the winner of his father Camillus, said afterwards: "He was totally written off the first day and he wasn't beaten that far and was staying on. The better ground helped. He might come back here for a winners' bumper.

"My grandfather Tom Slevin bred him and he's 94."

STEWARDS REPORTS

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Cadeau Du Bresil (FR), ridden by Ms N. Carberry, Third Estate, ridden by Mr L.J. McGuinness, and Jaime Sommers ridden by Mr C.M. Healy, where it appeared Cadeau Du Bresil (FR) and Third Estate suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion Mr C.M. Healy was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 2 racedays.

The Stewards interviewed Mr C.M. Healy, rider of Jaime Sommers, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion Mr C.M. Healy was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) and Regulation 10 4, in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and without giving his mount time to respond, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 6 racedays.

Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Poppets Prince trained by S.J. Treacy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very green early, attempted to jump the running rail past the winning post with a circuit to go, and was eventually pulled up.
