Elliott's Beautiful training performance

Sat 13th Nov 2010, 14:10

Gordon Elliott has performed some praise-worthy feats in his short years as a trainer and today the former amateur jockey produced Beautiful Sound to win the Thoroughbred Trails Handicap Chase at Punchestown despite an absence of three and a half years (1313 days)!

Ridden by Davy Russell, the son of Presenting led entering the straight, and despite veering badly left at the final fence, battled well for a two lengths win over Twice The Craic

Elliott was not present for the win, who was carrying the Gigginstown Stud colours and making his first racecourse appearance since April 2007.

Beautiful Sound's previous run, when trained by Ted Walsh, was when defeating leading hunter chaser Agus A Vic at Fairyhouse in '07 and prior to that success, the 8yo gelding had won his only point to point, meaning he is currently unbeaten in three career starts.
