West Of The Edge recorded his first win under rules when taking the 2m6f handicap chase in runaway fashion at Tramore.
The six-year-old gelding, successful in a point-to-point at Inch last year, was tackling handicap company for the first time over fences and made a mockery of his lowly mark of 88.
The 10/1 chance took it up before the second last and shot clear before the final fence under Declan Queally.
He galloped on strongly to beat 7/2 favourite Mallards In Flight by eight and a half lengths, with Shantalla in third and Betterthanalright completing the placings in fourth.
Winning trainer James Dullea said, "I'm thrilled with that. We have been lucky around here before and I wished they raced here every week!
"I'm delighted for the horse, he was unlucky twice last year over hurdles. He just bumped into ones too good for him and he deserved that today.
"I'm delighted for his owners (Richard Gilles from Cork and Alfred Sweetman from Kilkenny). They are great lads to train for and they stuck with this horse all along.
"We'll see what the handicapper does before deciding where to go next. He was bought for chasing and that is his kind of ground, the softer the better for him. That would be the shortest trip he would want."
