Ebasani recorded his second win on his third career start as he took the last at Tipperary this evening, the Follow Tipperary Races On Facebook Race.
The John Oxx trained son of Manduro won on his debut at Navan in October of last year and finished a disappointing sixth of eighth in the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes again at Navan in April of this year.
Sent off the 6/4 favourite this evening (the likely favourite Red Rocks Point was a non-runner due to being lame) he raced in rear before improving into third as they approached the straight.
He came with his challenge on the outer from two furlongs out and hit the front with a furlong to race, keeping on well under pressure from there to score by a length and three parts under Declan McDonogh. Long Journey Home who attempted to make all, finished second under Wayne Lordan for Daniel O’Sullivan at 4/1 (backed from 5’s) while the 7/4 chance Nonchalant finished a disappointing last.
John Oxx said afterwards: "He won nicely. He didn’t like the sticky ground in the Ballysax and he was off for a good while after that.
"He handled that well today and he is bred to stay well but he is a bit keen and perhaps that might restrict his stamina. He is a good horse and he shows plenty of speed and he has a nice turn of foot.
"He has got two options in big handicaps on Champions Weekend. He could run in the mile and six at Leopardstown or the mile and a half at the Curragh and the latter could be the one as I don’t want to stretch him too far in trip."
The win of Ebasani completed a double on the card for the Aga Khan who was earlier successful with Zafilani
The winner is a half-brother to Ebadani who also won last night at Bellewstown.
