Freewheelin Dylan added to point-to-point and hunter chase gains from the past when returning to form in the Sean Hughes Memorial Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

Conor Maxwell rode the 12/1 victor for Dermot McLoughlin, and though just six and a quarter lengths split the first five home, Freewheelin Dylan did enough to see off Dont Kick Nor Bite by two lengths.

"I quietly fancied him. The ground was gone for him in Galway as he wants proper good ground. He'd very good runs in novice hurdles before that and I thought if he put in a good round of jumping he might go close," stated Maxwell.

"He gave an exhibition of jumping. He was winging fences and I just kept taking him back and he was loving it. He sprinted from the back of the second last and then idled the whole way up the straight. Hopefully there is a bit of improvement in him."
