With likely big player Deep Speed (blood disorder) out and just four rivals left to contend with, things finally all came together for the well-regarded Dusty In Memphis in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Dundalk.

Billy Lee took the reins for the initial occasion, on the American-bred daughter of Broken Vow, who was sporting cheek-pieces for the first-time.

Off since late April, David Wachman's charge was fresh and well enough to make all in this seven furlong event and the three times previously raced three-year-old was always looking good in the final quarter mile, eventually beating the favourite The Visitor by two and three parts of a length.

"She did it well and she got it handy enough in front. When I asked her to pick up she picked up and went to the line well.

"It's nice to win a maiden with her as she has a nice pedigree.

"Hopefully she'll pick up another before she goes to stud," reflected Lee in the aftermath. (GC & EM)
