The father and daughter team of Eugene and Maxine O'Sullivan combined to take the last at Tipperary, the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Handicap Chase, with Oighear Dubh

Previously trained by Tony Martin, the grey seven-year-old made his debut for O'Sullivan in a point-to-point in January.

He was successful 'between the flags' at Dromahane in May, and caught the eye when a staying on third behind Pass The Ball at Killarney on Monday.

Sent off at 7/1 today, the son of Verglas was towards rear early on, before soon settling in mid-division.

He slowly worked his way into contention from four out, and was ridden to challenge at the second last, keeping on best on the run-in to get the better of Black Jewel by half a length.

The runner-up was returned at 8/1 under Barry Browne for Paul Flynn, while Caoimhe Diva (50/1) and Invincible Don (9/2f) were nine lengths and a length back in third and fourth respectively.

The winning trainer and owner said afterwards: "He was a fun horse we bought at the sales in January. We bought him for the Open Lightweights and for summer racing. There was a drought of racing for him in the past few weeks and that's why he ran twice in the last week.

"He is a lovely horse and we'll head on to Galway now for something but what he goes for I do not know. Maxine gave him a fantastic ride and picked him out at the sales and today was the day."

The winning rider suffered a cut to her lip in a stalls incident at the Curragh yesterday, which required stitching, and her father added: "She was very lucky to come out of it yesterday and was damn lucky she didn't break her neck."
