Dual point-to-point winner Er Dancer made a winning racecourse debut at Fairyhouse as the Sean Doyle trained gelding landed the I.N.H.S.C. Maiden Hunters Chase under Cheltenham festival winning jockey Rob James.

Leader Wrong Direction blundered at the second-last which presented chasing Er Dancer with his chance and the winning son of Dragon Dancer galloped well to the line, beating Wrong Direction by four lengths.

James, who steered Milan Native to win last March's Kim Muir Chase at Cheltenham, today stated “they went a nice gallop on the ground and I was travelling easy and didn’t want to get there too soon. When I went for him he picked up well and galloped to the line.

“He looks around when he gets to the front but the loose horse gave me some help to the line. He got tight to one but otherwise jumped well.

“The ground is heavy. It’s tough going.”
