Kayf Supreme continued a dream recent run for Jim Dreaper when taking the Ballycahill Beginners Chase at Thurles.
The 2/11 favourite was Dreaper’s fourth winner from as many runners in the past eight days, and those who traded at such cramped odds had few worries.
The Alan Potts-owned gelding was sent on before halfway in this three-mile event, and his task was further eased when both Grand Isola and Carrigeen Lobelia exited at the final fence with just over a circuit remaining.
Davy Russell ’s mount was in command over the final half-mile, readily beating Kansas City Chief by 17 lengths with Curraghmore Girl a further 16 lengths back in third.
Dreaper said, "He had been consistent but had wind issues last year and had a number of operations. We brought him back for another one last summer but in fairness to the surgeon he said there was nothing more to take away surgically, so we just tie his tongue down now and hope for the best.
"We skipped taking on Rule The World (in the Ten Up Chase) at the weekend and it's lovely to win with him. I'd like to aim for something similar next otherwise it'll be a handicap."
