Bold Getaway and James Fort were significant defections from the Skryne Maiden Hurdle at Navan but Cotteemcavennigoal ran out a nice winner for local trainer Shane Crawley.
Market-leaders Endless Cash and Jawbox disappointed badly in 12th and 13th positions, and up front the Donagh Meyler-ridden Cotteemcavennigoal got the better of Kavanaghs Cross by three and a quarter lengths.
The horse’s name and the silks show the football allegiances of his owners, and Crawley explained as much in the aftermath.
He said: “The owners Simon and Carol (Keane) are massive West Ham fans and will be delighted. They are really enthusiastic and are always ringing to ask about the horse as they can’t get to see him on the gallops with the lockdown.
“I’m not sure where he will go next. He does jump a fence well so hopefully he’ll do something down the line.
“He’s a lovely Kalanisi gelding — very clear winded.”
S.D. Torrens, rider of Aragon trained by Mervyn Torrens, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Endless Cash, trained by D.Broad, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nostril post race.
S.F. O'Keeffe, rider of Tom McGreevy trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly right.
