Presenting Meghan (4/1) came through to lead after the final flight in the Ladbrokes Best Odds Guaranteed Mares’ Maiden Hurdle and ran on well to beat Bioverdia (5/2) by two and a quarter lengths. Fowlplay at 125/1 finished another two and a half lengths away in third, with the 5/4 favourite Bonarc fading to finish fifth having made the running.
The winning mare won a soft-ground bumper at Galway last year for Andy Oliver before joining winning trainer Gavin Cromwell.
She unseated rider at the first on hurdling debut at Cork before finishing fifth last time at Kilbeggan. She’s a full-sister to four-time winner Competitive Edge who was useful for Conor O’Dwyer.
Winning rider Jonathan Moore said: “She travelled well and just got a little flat-footed at the top of the hill, but stayed really well and was really game for me to the line.
“She kind of backed off maybe to the third last, but she came down the hill and stuck her neck out and tried hard for me.
“I felt the ground the last day was a bit quick, and an ease in the ground helped her too.”
