The Colm Murphy trained Don’t Be Bitin carried top weight to land the Slaney Handicap Chase under a fine ride by promising seven pound claimer Mikey Fogarty.

Fogarty sent the son of Turtle Island to the front five from home. The pair were joined by the travelling well Mahrajaan when he crashed out at the last.

The duo kept on strongly on the run-in to score by eight lengths.

Winning trainer Murphy said afterwards: “He deserved to win a pot like that, I’m not sure where we’ll go now.”

“There’s a conditions race in Tipperary next week and we may go there with him.”

“Carrying twelve stone seven a big tall order, Mikey [Forgarty] gave him a super ride.”

The 100/30 favourite Adajal was weakening when lost his action and pulled up before the last.
