Mighty Stowaway gave it his all from the front but he had to yield eventually to Dom Dolo in the Tattersalls Ireland Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown.

Sixteen to one chance Dom Dolo could be another nice type for Barry Connell and Alan Fleming as this was just his second start.

After he’d gotten the better of well-backed second favourite Mighty Stowaway by half a length, Fleming said: "He was tough and game. He jumps well and loves heavy ground.

"He'll be a better chaser than a hurdler. He'll probably tip away in another couple of hurdles and then go chasing next winter.

“We'll keep him low anyway and see what happens. I'd say the deeper the ground the better for him. He's a long term chaser.”

The Stewards received a report from Ms Joan Taylor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, concerning the fact that the vaccinations contained in the Passport of Cosmo's Moon, trained by R.P. McNamara were incorrect for the second successive occasion.

In accordance with Rule 90 the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Cosmo's Moon and fined R.P. McNamara €500.

Having considered the trainers record for vaccination irregularities for 2017, the Stewards referred this recurring problem to the CEO of the Turf Club for consideration.

D.J. Mullins, rider of Cluan Dara trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the third last hurdle.
