Reserve and previous course winner Doldido (20/1) got into the Suir Blueway Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel and made the most of his opportunity for Mick Winters and Luke Dempsey.
Out quick after a Cork third placing on Saturday, Oneknightmoreihope (6/4) was a well-backed market-leader and he had every chance after getting on terms travelling well entering the straight.
However there was no getting by front-running Doldido, who edged ahead on the run-in to triumph by three parts of a length. Chasing Abbey didn’t really get the run of the race on debut for Gavin Cromwell and ended up three lengths back in third.
"Luke rode a peach on him over fences at Tramore but we thought the horse didn't seem to kill himself. I said to him today to stay out on the better ground and do your own thing and he left him enjoy it,” said Winters.
"The horse needed it and we needed it!
"He isn't far off the 95s over fences and you'd say there's a chase win in him as well."
J.C. Gainford, rider of Insane Bolt trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount travelled well early but got very tired.
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Fix The Bill trained by Eugene M. O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left and made several jumping errors.
