66/1 shot Discorama lunged late to grab the spoils on the line in a thrilling finish to the Irish Racing Yearbook Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

9/10 favourite Blow By Blow was in front after a few flights in the two-mile two-furlong contest but was narrowly headed jumping the second last by Roseriver Has

The former Grade 1 bumper winner rallied well to get the better of that rival going to the last but couldn't hold the late charge of Discorama.

Kevin Sexton got a good tune from Paul Nolan's charge on the run-in and he just edged the verdict by a nose at the line.

The winner was making his first outing since finishing second in a Thurles bumper on his debut back in March.

"I didn't think he'd be ready for that but he's a fair horse. The bumper he ran in at Thurles didn't work out that great but the ground wasn't that soft that day and it all happened a bit quick for him,” said Nolan.

"He loves jumping. He was actually quite keen in the race but he wouldn't pick up the bridle at home. I couldn't get over that he was so keen.

"Saddler Maker seems to be some sire and they just don't know when to stop galloping. It looks like he's a nice horse and hopefully he'll kick on from there."
