Despite jumping to her right, Look To The West (9/4jf) scored on hurdling debut today, continuing owner Robcour's hot streak with success in Navan's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle.
Absent since winning her Dromahane point-to-point for Michael Murphy in April 2022, the five-year-old today surrendered ground due her jumping technique but found plenty for jockey Rachael Blackmore, holding staying-on runner-up Bioluminescence by a length.
Winning trainer Henry De Bromhead said “she came well recommended for her point-to-point but last year she was just a bit immature still and had a couple of little issues. She'd been working really well and we thought she was nice.
“It's not easy to make the running around there and it looked a nice race. She hasn't run for a long time so hopefully she'll keep improving as well. She jumped a bit right but otherwise she was really good.
“We've got her started and now we can look at the next level. I'd say she'll get further but she looked good over that trip. She gallops and jumps.
“Maybe something like the Solerina (Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in late January) but we'll see what everyone wants to do and enjoy today.”
Brian Acheson's Robcour's many high-profile recent winners includes today's opening victor Kala Conti and yesterday's heart-warming Lismullen Hurdle success of Bob Olinger.
