Henry De Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore struck with outsider Gabbys Cross in the Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase at Ballybrit.
Sent off at 22-1, despite having run a solid race when fifth at the Punchestown festival in April, the Roger Brookhouse owned gelding held the late challenge of race favourite Busselton
Blackmore led early in the straight before making a beeline for the favoured stands rail and that arguably proved the race winning move, as with the help of the rail to guide him, Gabbys Cross galloped all the way to the line.
Busselton who had raced prominently throughout, certainly didn't go down without a fight, battling back bravely again close home.
Winning rider Blackmore said; "it is brilliant to get one on the board, he did it really well and is progressing all the time.
"He didn't jump fantastically today, made one or two mistakes but got up the hill really well and stayed really well."
Blackmore added her best wishes from the riders in the weigh room to injured jockey Wesley Joyce.
