Days Ahead looked an unlucky loser at Dundalk on his last start but had no problems this time as he landed the first division of the ten furlong handicap tonight.

Eoin Doyle's versatile gelding charged home to finish third on his last visit after meeting trouble in running but it was plain sailing here.

Seamie Heffernan produced him to challenge at the furlong pole and he edged ahead in the closing stages. Saint By Day finished to good effect to get within half a length of the winner at the line.

The 7/4 favourite was recording his fifth career success, second on Flat, and had last been successful in a beginners chase at Tramore in October.

“He's a great old servant on the Flat, over hurdles and fences. He's stays well and it's great to get another win,” commented Heffernan afterwards.
